- On August 15th, Cates Sheet Metal held an Employee Appreciation Picnic at the corporate headquarters location at 15555 W. 108th Street. Nearly 200 employees and their families were in attendance. We had excellent weather, food and company. This is going to become an annual event for Cates Sheet Metal. We look forward to many events in the future.

- The Safety Program at Cates Sheet Metal has been featured in an article in Contracing Business Magazine as well as ContractingBusiness.com. Read the article HERE. The article is titled "Sheet Metal Today: No Shortcuts In Safety" and was written by Jim Pickel.
- Cates Sheet Metal has begun work on the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Cates will perform the HVAC sub-contract with Midwest Mechanical.
- Cates continues work on the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. This job is scheduled for completion in 2011. The mechanical contractor is US Engineering Co.
- Cates has completed the base bid scope of work on the Arrowhead Stadium renovation in Kansas City, MO. The new Press Level and Horizon Level has been completed and is a prominent feature of the renovation.
- A new Lockformer Water Jet Table has been added to the commercial shop further extending Cates' fabrication capabilities. The new table, used for cutting insulation, uses 50,000 psi of water pressure to cut up to 3" thick fiberglass or Armaflex style insulation. This greatly reduces the labor cost of insulated ductwork.
- In December 2008, our commercial shop added a third Duro Dyne rolling head insulation pin spotter to our insulation line. This will allow Cates to run 1/2", 1" and 2" duct liner simultaneously.
- Also in December 2008, our Spiral Shop added a Kioke Advanced Cutting System 5' x 20" plasma cutting table. The new plasma table has the newst cam duct software to make it a stand alone system. The Spiral Shop will now be able to receive and process orders directly from the detailing department. There has also been an addition of an 8' hydraulic press brake with a DRC back gauge. These two new additions allow the Spiral Shop to be completely self sufficient and able to handle any spiral or oval order.
